The second part of this post is about the Butterfly Farm which is in a large glasshouse next to the Otters. The Buckfast Butterfly Farm and Devon Otter sanctuary are on one site and throughout the day I alternated between the Butterfly House and the Otters outside. It was very hot and humid in the Glasshouse so it was a relief to be out in the air. Great to be amongst the exotic Butterflies and the large Iguana (who was behind glass…phew!).
There were quite a few Butterflies flying in the glasshouse but so difficult to take them in flight, time and patience required! Being ready when they landed was also tricky as you could easily spook them and trying to get images of them without the roof in and a good background was quite tricky. There were strings of Butterfly chrysalis hanging on twigs in various stages of emergence you could see some moving and some just coming out and others waiting for their wings to stretch ready for flight , fascinating.
Again I used a zoom lens so I could take images at a distance. It was a great day out something a little different.
