On the 21st October I decided to take an early morning trip to Stourhead. The leaves were turning at home and I didn’t want to miss the colours at Stourhead this year. It was a little misty when I left before dawn, I was hoping for mist on Stourhead lake, but it was not to be what little there was soon went when the sun came up. It didn’t matter the sun threw a lovely light across the water and the trees there was also a breeze which came up and meant movement in the water. I’ve put a couple of comparison images below as I returned on the 3rd November.

So on Wednesday 3rd November I  drove through thick fog and hoar frost before dawn to get to Stourhead again, hoping for some atmospheric images, but by the time I got to Stourhead  it was just a light frost which was a little bit of a let down and no mist again! But after waiting a while the light from the sun came across towards the Pantheon and lit the trees to an autumnal gold, there wasn’t a breath of wind around dawn. I used a super wide angle lens to get the reflections as well.
