The sun was shining if a little cold so we decided to take a trip down to Radipole lake and see what was about. We took Tilly, our dog, to see how she liked being out and about, it means we can stay away longer and hopefully she will enjoy the trips.
Radipole was quiet, there had been sitings of Bearded Tits but we were’t lucky this time. There were about ten Herons across from the visitor centre and the usual Ducks, coots and a pair of Shelducks.
We had a walk round the paths and when we got to the little footbridge we were pleased to see the Hooded Merganser, it come swimming towards us hoping for food but we had nothing and it moved on down the lake.
We decided to go on to Portland Bill and have our lunch in the camper van and have a look round there for a while. We had met a lady who we had chatted to at Radipole and we met her again at Portland she mentioned the Little Owl she had just seen. She was kind enough to point us in the right direction and it was sitting in one of the old quarry workings. Our first sighting of a wild Little Owl were really excited and to get some images as well it was a good day!
Tilly enjoyed herself, it is lovely that we can take her places, she is good on lead and enjoys the camper van.
