Into May already! The recent rain has freshened everything up and all the fields, gardens etc. are growing well. A couple of fields near the village have been cut for silage already and it was here I noticed a Hare in the field, it was a long way off and unfortunately I couldn’t get a good picture a slight haze over the field but at least I saw one and hopefully get a chance to see more as the season goes on.

As I walked round Manor field heading for the hill, I spotted a bird up in the tree which I wasn’t sure what it was, I managed to get some pictures and when I got home I found out it was a juvenile Nuthatch it looked much bigger in the tree, it was well fluffed up, I originally thought it was a young Woodpecker.

Not much to see as I walked along under the hill plenty of bird song but most were hidden in the trees and bushes except for a lovely Yellowhammer who sat nicely for me, such pretty birds.

I walked on the footpath towards Shroton Brake and to the Modern Stone circle with lovely views over the Blackmore Vale and then back home for breakfast, always a lovely walk, with special views.
