After a lovely day yesterday the weather has settled in for rain most of the day. Yesterday was a wonderful sunny day. In the afternoon I took a walk on Hambledon Hill. It is very dry but there are still a few wild flowers on the chalk downland. I saw a few marbled white butterflies and also a female Yellowhammer.

I have heard that there are two Barn Owl chicks in the Barn we have been watching, the farmer saw them and they are out of the owl box. I will have to keep an eye out for them. I hope they are safely tucked up in the barn today this wet weather is no good to them but the forecast is not as bad after today.

Our Hedgehog is becoming a regular visitor in the evening at around 9.30pm, I think he is in our border for the day because last evening I put some kitten food out in a saucer and he must have smelt it as he sprinted up the lawn at 9.15pm and ate the lot before going on to the mealworms. We will have to keep feeding him now and hopefully it will get him ready for hibernation. I was pleased to get a photograph of him as the light was very poor my camera was up to ISO 3200 but I still managed to get an acceptable picture, something I couldn’t have done with my previous cameras.
