On the 29th December Rod and I had to go into Blandford so it was a good chance to have a walk along the Stour Meadows to see what was about, hopefully to see some Otters. We were not lucky this time but it didn’t really matter as always there was plenty of other wildlife around especially Kingfishers.

The Little Egret was busy preening himself and I caught him as he shook himself.

There must have been at least 5 or 6 Kingfishers along the short stretch of river so it was fun trying to get images of them in flight, more pictures below.

I didn’t see the Heron below until someone pointed him out he was right in the top of a tall fir tree surveying all around and looking very grumpy!

Then in the trees lining the river we saw a number of Goldcrests flitting in the trees such tiny beautiful little birds.
