On one of our recent trips to the Somerset Levels, in particular RSPB Ham Wall and Shapwick Heath we stayed a little later into the early evening, our campsite was only a short drive away so we were more inclined to stay. We were so lucky to see Starlings murmurating, coming into the marshes in front of the Tor View hide. Although not in the numbers there are in the winter it was still a wonderful sight. We hope to return when there are more. You are never guaranteed where they are going to be on the Avalon Marshes so it’s always worth phoning the dedicated Starling Hotline before setting out; and automated service which tells you where they have been roosting.
