It was blowing a gale and raining on the 8th May and I spotted the Roe deer family in the field behind our house once again. They like to shelter in this field when the weather is a bit rough.
I noticed there was only one buck now instead of the two we have seen previously. I think this is the the older of the two the other buck was last years baby, it has probably been ejected! Both the females look heavily pregnant and will soon be giving birth I would imagine. I noticed how different the coat colours were between the female and the male, the females look as though they just about have their summer coat. They stayed for quite sometime before moving off again…I hope they stay safe.
