In between renovating parts of the garden I have been keeping a close on on the birds that come into the garden. We have a large population of House Sparrows that spend much of their day arguing in the shrubs. Of course like all the birds they are busy nesting and when I put out some hair from combing my dog Tilly they are there straight away collecting it for their nests. I don’t know how they realise it’s there but they are collecting it within seconds.

The Sparrows have also been taking advantage of the gaps in my borders and the dry garden soil by enjoying dust baths. Wherever I go in the garden there are little hollows where they have been! You can just see the Sparrows head in the image below as he’s making the most of the conditions.

The Blue Tits have also been taking advantage of the Tilly fur although they are more cautious but they have collected quite a lot before the Sparrows have taken it all.

I spend a little time in our Conservatory with the door open and my camera on a tripod and luckily they are used to us being around so it gives me chance to take some pictures and practice my Bird in flight images.
