The longest day of the year and we are now officially into summer, I wish someone would tell the weather. The river is running high at the moment due to heavy downpours, although the river hasn’t come over the top it is very high. I hope all the birds that nest along the banks are high enough to survive.

Monday was awful again with heavy rain but the evening turned fine, a reason to take Kim out for a walk in the late sunshine. I wanted to see if I could spot the Barn Owl I hadn’t seen it since early May. My patience was rewarded although it was a very small glimpse through the trees.

As I was walking over the footbridgeI looked down only to see an Otter looking back at me. What a lovely surprise I managed to capture a couple of images through the reeds. He stayed still for a few seconds and then disappeared under a overhanging Willow tree.

A lovely walk and as I went towards the spinney the sun was setting around 9.15. I took a couple of images of the sunset with Poppies in the foreground. The Poppies are flowering on the farmer’s rubbish heap!
