My attempt at capturing the near alignment of Saturn (top) and Jupiter and possibly three of Jupiter’s moons. It was difficult getting a fast enough shutter speed to stop the movement of the planets, ISO 25600 and my 400 lens with 2x converter and I’m still not practiced enough for night sky photography!

This image was taken on the 20th December although the nearest they would be together would be on 21st December 2020, when the planets will align, appearing closer together than they have since the middle ages. Unfortunately the forecast was showing heavy cloud for the 21st and sure enough it was, so I’m pleased I made the effort to witness this near alignment.
