On the 21st June we were having our lunch at midday in the conservatory at the back of our house when the farmer came into the field below and started cutting the grass for hay. We both thought that maybe the Buzzards etc. might just be around and come in and have a look for easy pickings, so I got my camera ready.
Sure enough soon a Buzzard came across the field and settled in the tree just watching and then there were two Red Kites, where they came from and how they knew I don’t know as we only see them occasionally over the house. They flew around for quite some time I couldn’t see them find anything to eat and eventually they disappeared.
Also there were two Kestrels who came to look things over, I only saw one on the wires at first and then realised there was another on the post, they stayed around for quite some time.
There was of course the usual Crows and Gulls hoping for an easy meal.
We had an enjoyable time time watching these birds at close hand.
