Another trip to Alner’s Gorse on 25th June when I was hoping to spot the first of the Silver Washed Fritillaries. Another early start after I had been out with Tilly as again it was going to be warm and there was a chance of some rain mid morning.

When I got there I headed for the area where I saw them last year right over the other side of the Car Park and out of the reserve, when I got there it was very quiet no Butterflies about but after a short wait they started to appear and then I spent a while enjoying them and taking pictures. One of the first ones I saw was the female variant of the Silver Washed Fritillary, Valezina (5-15% of the population of SWF) I saw one White Admiral but too quick for me I will have to go back again!

There wasn’t to many species about as I made my way back but I did see Small Skippers and Large Skippers but then I didn’t stay too long as it did Strat to rain earlier than expected.
