Visit to Alners Gorse

On Saturday 10th June I took a trip to Alners Gorse near Hazelbury Bryan with my friend Judy, the first of the season. The week had been quite wet and windy and it turned out sunny on the Saturday, so it was a good time to see if there was anything interesting about, especially perhaps a Marsh Fritillary but unfortunately not to be.

There weren’t too many butterflies about, mainly Meadow Browns with a few Speckled Woods so a little disappointing so I looked around for other subjects to take pictures of.

On the way back home we stopped by the Stock Gaylard deer park, the Fallow deer were close to the fence. We crept out of the car and I managed to get a couple of pictures before they spooked, the wind was in the wrong direction. Their summer coats look very beautiful at the moment.
