Around Home 10th May

I walked up to New Cross with Tilly early in the morning again as I was going dog training later,  a shorter walk; I didn’t want to wear her out. It was very clear and frosty again. The sun was just coming up as I crossed the meadows near the river and the light was wonderful.

As I crossed over to Bere Marsh and was lucky enough to hear and then see a pair of Cuckoos. I had heard one as I walked down the lane but I was very pleased to see two flying across the meadows.

I walked up to New Cross and I saw a couple of Roe bucks in the field next to the track. The sun was shining on the deer showing their coats up really nicely.

The Heron flew over the house when I got home, there is one that seems to be trying to get to some of the ponds and is often seen at the moment perched on house roofs. I just managed to grab my camera and take a picture as he flew across.
